the charm of a charm bracelet

Though to many a charm bracelet may seem old fashioned, to me it’s charming (pun intended). There is something sweet and sentimental about a charm bracelet. It’s a mini-collection, a curated story about one’s life.

As a child my mother started a charm bracelet for me. My first charm was a simple sterling silver disc with my name and date of birth engraved on it. Over the years she added charms to the bracelet with souvenirs we collected as we traveled on family vacations. An Eiffel Tower charm from a trip to Paris, a Mickey Mouse charm from a vacation at Disney World, an apple charm from a trip to NYC…

As I grew older I continued the tradition of collecting charms along my travels. To this day I always take a few moments to find a local jewelry store and savor the search for a charm unique to my destination. By now my original bracelet has become one of several charm bracelets. Each holds special memories of past and present travel adventures.
